In today's New York Times octogenarians report on "wing-walking" (on top of an airplane, across the English Channel -- PULL-EASE!), mountain climbing, and other relatively extreme adventures they're exploring in the name of Active Aging. I'm not sure I want to join them, but I admire their what my grandmother used to call "get-up-and-go."
What passes for Adventure in your life? And, if you're into trekking and cycling and the like, what kind of resources (travel agents, programs, etc.) can you recommend to your fellow travelers?
Even Elderhostel has retired its name and sedentary image , substituting Exploritas. And ElderTreks was formed in 1987 specifically for Adventure Travel for people over 50. REI is marketing to our cohort, too. (And I thought I was doing well to get to the gym this week!)
