I wish we lived in what I believe would be called a truly Post-Feminist World. That is, we wouldn’t have to be measuring women’s “progress;” we could simply measure human progress. Women would need not be the “other” anymore. But considering, much less thinking about our decisions and choices and policies and economy in terms of the impact on women (versus -- or in addition to -- the impact on men) still doesn’t come naturally enough to declare feminism successful, over, or unnecessary. Indeed, we have to be feminists, some of us, simply because men don’t think about this stuff because they don’t think they have to. Long-time feminist and publisher of Ms. Magazine Eleanor Smeal gives President Obama’s administration unusually good marks for thinking about it, though, and in a post on Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eleanor-smeal/obamas-first-100-days-gia_b_192531.html) lists positive policy changes feminists can endorse. Check it out. Think about it. Comment.
