Ann Sentilles is a reporter and editor whose 40-year career has survived television news, weekly newspapers and a magazine — and marriage, motherhood, two attempted novels and freelancing. As editor of the award-winning Dallas Family magazine, she “wrote the book” on parenting for the do-it-all/have-it-all women of her generation. Adopting the same living-it/reporting-it model, she developed The Third Third to address with journalistic excellence this same (now older and wiser) generation’s yearning for meaning amidst a troubled uncertainty about what comes next — after the career, after the children, after illness, after success, after retirement, after loss, beyond tennis and bridge, travel, the condo and AARP, and with peace.
Julie Halpert is a freelance journalist with more than two decades’ experience writing for national publications, including The New York Times, Newsweek, The Washington Post, Self, FamilyFun and Parents. Co-author (with Deborah Carr, Ph.D.) of the book Making Up with Mom (Why Mothers and Daughters disagree About Kids, Careers, and Casseroles and What to Do About It), she lives in Michigan with her husband and three children, and her mother lives nearby.

She is the author of three books, What’s Next? Women Redefining Their Dreams in the Prime of Life, What’s Missing? Inspiration for Women Seeking Faith and Joy in Their Lives, and The Lost Apostle, Searching for the Truth about Junia, and is currently the director of communications for the National Math and Science Initiative, a public-private partnership designed to strengthen math and science education in the U.S.
